for the record: the cape of good hope is not the most southern tip of Africa as I had always thought - I mean, it is the one on all the globes and such, who knew? it is - however - where the atlantic and indian oceans meet.

Cape Town is a really cool place, I only wish I had more time there instead of the two days I ended up with - both the cable car to the top of the table mountain and ferry to robben island were not running (cable car for wind, and ferry because... well, I have no idea why.)

Steve Maouyo: you need to study abroad in Cape Town - this city was built for you.

so blogging from the airport is definitely not very thought provoking - outside of the fact that I strongly dislike airports (I love traveling) and hate changing money when the dollar is so weak on the world market... so with that, I leave you with my pictures from the past couple days:

all right, time to enjoy my last non-cramped moments before my 25 hours+ of travel - I'm back sometime saturday afternoon.

well, I'm now at the southern-most tip of africa - Cape Town. I have no idea what I'm doing here for the next few days, but I hear that Table Mountain and Cape Peninsula are pretty cool - either way, I'm back Saturday.

it's our final day here in Mozambique, and I don't know where to begin in my description of the trip. I'll have lots to say once I'm able process more in the states - but right now I'm in the tail end of a whirlwind.
in short summary:
  • I LOVE my work.
  • the film is going to be great.
  • Africa is rad.
  • God is moving in Mozambique.
  • I have too many job opportunities.
  • I LOVE my work.
I think that I typically look ridiculous in front of a lens - however, Steve happened to grab a picture of me in Mucatine that probably explains better than I ever could what's been running through my head for most of the trip:

this was my shot at that moment)

Mucatine is one of the most remote places I've ever been. To get there you have to travel on a two lane "highway" west to Chokwe, follow a lesser road out of town for about an hour until you reach five large bumps in the road and a yellow house. Our 4WD van came in handy as we made a right off the pavement into the bush, followed the dirt road for another 20km to get to the village. We stayed in guest huts for two days - there's a lot to this story that I'll get to soon enough.

I have a lot of stories this time around.

We have lunch here in the world relief office, then off to the airport for our 25 hour trek back home. It's worth mentioning that I'm going to try to delay my flight from Johannesburg by two days to go hang out in Cape Town. (So, unlike Brody after Champion - I'm not potentially dead, just delaying my return and adding a few more photos to my flickr.)

(it's also worth noting that my time in the Indian Ocean before was totally lame when compared to this past weekend in Bilene - more about all the adventures soon)

well, I can check off another life goal. more picts from today on my flickr.

we're headed off to Chokwe tomorrow at 6:00am. No more blogs for a while, but you'll deal. I'm incredibly stoked to get out into the real Mozambique - I'll probably have something more insightful than pictures to post when I get back, check back next weekend.

peace and love to our collective mothers.
